Why I received the Sugarcane cuttings in different size, some are big, some are small? Some are green, Some are light purple, it was not beautiful like picture shown.
Picture showed like these:
but why we received these?
Answer:
Because the sugarcane's colors and sizes are depending on quality of soil, fertilizer, amount of sunlight and the weather (hurricane, wind, moistures)
The picture shown sugarcane at August and September, after growing 6-8 months. That was the best time to enjoy the color and beautiful color, shape of sugarcane. But it is not the good time to enjoy/eat/harvest them, they are not getting sweetest yet.
You need to wait 1-2 months more, when ever the fall is coming, weather turn little bit cold with the autumnal cold breeze, that is that best time to harvest sugarcane. It tastes really sweet at this period of time.
But...the more weather cold (winter coming on Nov, Dec, Jan..) the more ugly sugarcanes look ! They are easily to be fallen down due to strong winds, hurricanes. The purple color becomes lighter then even turn green, because it was lacking of sunlight.
Due to you buy the cuttings for growing, we prefer to keep sugarcane in small size. That is convenient for you, to reduce shipping fee, and to be easier for growing in pot.
The big size we shipped just for showing up how big they can be, to make you satisfy, but actuay, it is not good for growing, it was unable to grow in pot without cutting them in a small piece, but the cutting will be week to survive and sproute.
2. Why the ends of cuttings turned RED ? Is there any diseases?
That was normal when you cut sugarcane then the surface of the cutting turned red. You can grow them without any problem. It is not diseased.
3. I concern when received the cutting with broken node. Is it possible to germinate a new one?
Yes, it is absolutely possible. In fact, the broken node will be stronger to produces many young plants, but it takes time, longer than the intact node.
Please see picture below: Many new nodes have been produced from the broken one.
4. I receive the very young stalk, I wonder it can be survived, sprouted?
Yes, it can be sprouted strongly the same to the old one. Please see picture here:
